Set up NestHome carefully, then build one reliable routine
This guide explains the current web application from account creation to reports and exports. The same API routes remain available to the connected mobile application through the configured deployment domain.
1. Create and secure your account
Register with an email address and a strong, unique password. Confirm the account where verification is enabled, then review the profile and appearance settings.
2. Create or join a family workspace
Create a household name and default currency, or accept an invitation from an existing owner. Only give administrative roles to trusted members.
3. Review categories and payment methods
Keep the initial category list simple. Add custom categories only when they improve decisions, and use consistent payment-method names.
4. Record income and expenses
Enter the title, amount, date, category, method, currency, and useful notes. Add receipt images only when they help with verification or record keeping.
5. Track borrowed and lent money
Use loan records for amounts that must be repaid or collected. Confirm the person, date, due date, currency, remaining balance, and status.
6. Review reports
Compare income, expenses, and category totals over a useful time range. Investigate major changes instead of judging one isolated day.
7. Archive or delete test data
Open the transaction list and use the visible edit, archive, or delete controls. Delete only records that are genuinely incorrect or temporary test entries.
8. Export and protect your data
Create CSV or JSON exports when needed and store them securely because exported files can contain private household information.
